So we are here again to tell you about yet another Google Doodle and this time it is more interesting than ever!
Today, Google is celebrating Gideon Sundback’s 132nd Birthday. For those of you who are completely unaware of who he was, Giedon Sundback was the man who is known primarily for his work in the development of the zipper.
To mark the 132nd birth anniversary of Gideon Sundback, Google posted an interactive doodle on the home page that features a giant zipper running down the centre of the global search engine’s home page. And if you drag your mouse down to unzip the zipper, it will split the screen, including the search textbox and reveal the relevant results for the name Gideon Sundback.
Even though we really enjoyed this specific doodle by Google but a number of users, especially Firefox users have having issues using it. A number of firefox users have said that when they did unzip the doodle, it didn’t redirect to the search result of Gideon Sundback but received a plain white screen instead hence it appears that this specific Doodle by Google isn’t all browser friendly. The compatibility issues might well be due to the HTML5 coding that Google seldom uses in its interactive Doodles.
Even thought the Doodle is amazing but one thing that we do feel a little sad and a little bad about is the fact that today, being Sachin Tendulkar’s Birthday, we would have loved to see a Google Doodle on him. At least on Google India’s homepage. Anyhow, one can expect Google to come up with a Doodle on Sachin sooner or later but till then, enjoy today’s Doodle. Happy Unzipping! 😉
