WhatsApp is arguably the best cross platform mobile IM service available at the moment. Because of the increase in the number of active users, we have seen delay in the delivery system but it still continues to be an amazing IM service for your mobile device.
A few months ago, Whatsapp brought about an update that didn’t allow iPod Touch users to use WhatsApp. Today, here we are to give you the workaround of installing and making Whatsapp work on your iPod Touch.
The first and foremost pre-requisite is that your iPod Touch should be jailbroken.
The first step involved is installing WhatsApp on your iPod Touch.
Step 1: Download and install iPhone Configuration Utility, a business-oriented tool provided byApple that allows devices to be easily customized.
Step 2: From iTunes, search for “WhatsApp Messenger”and download it. You can also download it from Installous if you have it installed on your device.
Step 3: Launch iPhone Configuration Utility, which you should have installed earlier. From the hand-hand side, select your iPod touch and navigate over to the “Applications” tab.
Step 4: Click on “Add IPA” and navigate select the WhatsApp file you downloaded earlier, which should be placed under iTunes Media > Mobile Applications. Alternatively, you can drag the WhatsApp file from iTunes to your desktop, then point iPhone Configuration Utility there.
Step 5: Once the right IPA is selected, simply scroll down and hit “Install”. In a matter of seconds, WhatsApp should be installed on your iPod touch.
Once you have installed WhatsApp on your iPod Touch, only one small little step remains.
Head over to Cydia. We expect the preinstalled repositories will be working fine on your device. Search for ‘WhatPad’ and from the results that you see, install the one from the BigBoss repository. This should be the first result, the top result that you see in the search window. Install it to your device and you are done.
Open WhatsApp, go through the initial set up. Yes, you would require a mobile number handy for a one time pin to verify your account as you do on any other mobile device when you install WhatsApp. That’s it! WhatsApp should function normally now. Of course, you would require a Wi-Fi handy all the time to make it work.
