Till a few years back, Yahoo used to be a household name but then the likes of Google, Microsoft, Apple and Facebook took over the world of search, social media and technology on the whole which minimized Yahoo!’s overall presence. There used to be a time when Yahoo! Mail was one of the most trusted and one of the most widely used e-mail clients but then came Gmail and the world of e-mail hasn’t looked back ever since. Google’s search engine too is impeccable but Yahoo! still has quite a few fans and quite a few users around the globe. Even though the company has seen quite a downfall in the last few years, it still is a giant and a household name, well, at least in the household of those people who are aware about technology.
Founded in the year 1994, the company has seen it’s ups and downs but the last six-seven years have been particularly amusing if not in the figures of the company (that might certainly make a shareholder sweat) but in the way and the number of CEOs Yahoo! has hired in these past years. Yahoo! has taken a number of bad decisions in the past and aren’t equipped enough to comment on any but we would certainly shared that in February 2008, Microsoft Corporation made an unsolicited bid to acquire Yahoo! for USD $44.6 billion. Yahoo! formally rejected the bid, claiming that it “substantially undervalues” Yahoo! and was not in the interest of its shareholders. Three years later, Yahoo! had a stock market capitalization of USD $22.24 billion. Everything is pretty much self explanatory.
Yahoo! has hired a total of 7 CEOs in the last six years! So today, we stumbled upon this neat little infographic that explains, in a funny yet true way how Yahoo! has been hiring it’s CEOs!
