If you thought Sony was down and out in the smartphone market, you might want to recheck your sources. Sony is planning to come out all guns blazing this fall with two new handsets in the pipeline. Just a month ago, Sony launched Xperia GX in Japan. Ever since the launch there have been numerous speculations on the release of the device in the international market. The international version of Xperia GX looks pretty similar to the Japanese version expect for the NTT Docomo branding which is expected to replaced.

In terms of specs the LT29i will be running on Snapdragon S4 dual core processor with and updated Adreno 320 GPU. The device will be 9mm thin and will resemble Xperia arc’s design sporting an arc shape. LT29i will have a 4.6inch HD display with a resolution of 1280×720 along with Sony’s Bravia engine for mobile. The device is expected to ship with Android 4.0.4 with no word on the Jelly Bean update. For camera lovers the phone will have a 13MP rear camera which can shoot in full HD i.e. 1080p along with HDR mode. LT29i is expected to launch before this fall but there is no exact launch date.

Next up is LT30p which is codenamed ‘Mint’. The device will be Sony’s flagship device and will be coming this fall. LT30p will be sporting the same specs as LT29i Hayabusa but it is believed that it will be running the quad core version of Snapdragon S4.

Tell us what you feel about the upcoming Android handsets from Sony. Do you think Sony is a bit too late bringing phones running on Snapdragon S4 chipset?

Whatever be the scenario, we believe that Sony will do everything possible to get back on track in the smartphone market after buying out Ericsson’s share this year.
