Twitter is one of the biggest social networking website at the moment and also the place that a spammer or a fake account creator enjoys to begin with even though only a few are able to carry on undetected. It is pretty easy to segregate the real twitter accounts to the fake ones but most of us don’t go into the detailing of who is real and who is fake before following someone. Some of us are careful about it but many aren’t.
There are a number of people that actually buy followers from various websites online and the cost of these followers range from 2$ to 55$ per 1000 followers at various places depending on the quality of followers that you want to buy. The only difference between the ‘bought’ followers is that the 2$ one looks as fake as it ‘genuinely’ is while the 55$ ones look close to real even though it still is pretty easy to segregate them.
One reason that we could decipher for people buying followers is the ‘follow the herd’ rule. If 10 people follow, the 11th follows too! The fact that is somewhat astonishing to us is that a number of celebrities have fake following of more than 30%. This list includes Lady Gaga, Justin Beiber (thank god for that), Barrack Obama, Twitter’s own twitter account, Facebook’s twitter account and a few more.
So here is an infographic that displays the number of fake followers that a number of celebrities have and astonishing facts about who is faking it on twitter.
