With a prize pool of 2 Million USD (with the winner getting a Million USD), the Season 2 League of Legends World Championships is about to witness an amazing end. With both Asian teams qualifying for the finals, everyone is rather shocked with the dominance these teams displayed during the Playoffs. Azubu Frost and Taipei Assassins are now set to face each other in a Best of 5 tomorrow at 17:30 PST (GMT -7).
These two teams have had an amazing journey so far with both teams losing only a single match each. On one hand, Azubu Forst dominated the group stages winning all their matches, and then annihilated the American favorites, Team Solo Mid (TSM), 2-0 in the quarter finals. Their first defeat coming only in the semis against CLG.EU, who then lost two consecutive matches to the unstoppable Azubu Forst who made their place in the finals with a 2-1 win. Taipei Assassins, the favorites of China, had pre-qualified to the quarterfinals where they tore apart the Korean rising stars Najin Swords in a straight 2-0 victory. They then faced the favorites of this season and the top contenders for the World Champion title, Moscow 5 BENQ (m5 BENQ) and defeated them surprising everyone with their 2-1 win, giving them a spot in the grand finals. These two amazing teams have certainly proved that League of Legends is as much main stream in Asia as it is in the Europe and the American regions.
