Samsung Galaxy Note : Preview

Welcome to TeCHeck!

Today neither there’s a tablet nor a phone on TeCHeck. We have something which lies between both the devices, a kind of a hybrid or simply Samsung Galaxy Note.

Apart from Galaxy Tab 7.7, Samsung at IFA 2011 showcased another beautiful product named Galaxy note. So without wasting any more time, Lets check it out and mind you we will be making it a bit short today!

The first thing when we look at Samsung’s Galaxy note is that its Big, the screen size is a whopping 5.3 inches which boasts a Super Amoled Plus HD display at 1280×800 pixels. The screen and display are really amazing. 10 on 10 for that Samsung!

Watching Videos on that screen is just like a dream come true, brilliant display and suitable screen size for watching videos.

Next up, Galaxy note has a snappy 1.4 GHz dual core processor, a Gig of  RAM and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and the latest installment of TouchWiz, TouchWiz UX.

The camera on Note is 8 Mega Pixel and it can shoot videos in 1080p which is something to “note”. Note also features a 2MP front facing camera.

The Galaxy Note has a 2500 mAh battery, weighs 178 gms and is 9.65mm thick which is a bit thicker than its younger brother Galaxy S II. It comes with a stylus which I think won’t be needed thanks to Android and TouchWiz.

Done with the specs let us come to the main point. You can make calls from Galaxy Note, but calling people from a 5.3 inch device won’t be the best of the idea. It is definitely not comfortable to hold a 5.3 inch device in your hand and make phone calls.

The other point with Galaxy Note is that it is expected to be costly. Infact pretty costly, just like Dell Streak and it doesn’t serve any purpose. We aren’t the biggest fans of the mix of phones and Tablets, and seriously a a single device cannot serve our purpoe.

Make no mistake this device is a state of the art but I couldn’t really find its use. Making calls from a 5 inch thing really makes you look stupid and it doesn’t serve you the purpose of a tab as well. Hefty pricing adds up the misery as it will be sold in limited numbers.

So I won’t recommend it to you unless you’re really in a need to buy a PDA. With the stylus it’s like a good looking PDA with a powerful display and some amazing Apps.

If you’re in need of a new phone, I don’t think you should check Galaxy note out. Go for its brother Galaxy S II or maybe the upcoming Iphone 5.

Adios!

Oh, and we leave you with its official video.

  1. Thank you for your response.I foogrt to say that I was using opera mini 4.4 because it was not working without touch in opera mini 7.Opera mini 7 does not allow me to use it without touch.Inline editing does not work without onscreen keyboard, which is too small on a 2.4 inch touchscreen.I want to use opera mini 7 without touch version. It just forces me to use touch version.I want opera mini 7 to look like it is on Nokia c3 or Nokia x2-01.
