Spurs sweeps Clippers

Spurs became the first team to book a seat in western conference finals.  Clippers put up a valiant effort, but Spurs were too much for them as they complete four game sweep with  a 102-99 win in-game 4. Tim Duncan scores 21 points and grabs nine rebounds. They are the only undefeated team in this year’s playoff. The Spurs have won 18 consecutive games and eight straight in the playoffs, sweeping back-to-back opponents for the first time since 1999. The Spurs continue to prove that they can beat any team. Game 4 was anybody’s game till last-minute. Paul made two free throws with 52 seconds remaining to cut San Antonio’s lead to 100-99, and Spurs guard Tony Parker missed a short jumper on the other end. With less than 24 seconds left in the game Paul took the ball and tries to go for a lay up and turns it over, the only turnover for the clippers in the 2nd half and it couldn’t have come at worst time. The ball ended in the hand of Green, who was fouled with 10 seconds left, he misses his 1 of two free throws and again giving clippers a chance to tie or to take a lead but the drama is not over yet.

Again this time it was Paul who drove the ball but lost his balance somehow and misses the shot and with 1.2 seconds left in the game Parker was fouled who also misses his 1 of two free-throws. With no timeout left, the Clippers were forced to throw a long inbounds pass to Williams, who couldn’t get off a shot before the clock expired. Paul finished with 23 points and 11 assists for his third double-double of the series. Griffin contributed 21 points and five rebounds. Duncan scored 21 points for the Spurs and grabbed nine rebounds, and Green finished with 14 points, shooting 3-for-5 from 3-point range. Chris was running and dishing. Blake was jumping and slamming. Clipper Nation was screaming and believing but the Spurs were just playing. The Spurs make you earn everything. They don’t panic. They don’t roll over. They just keep coming. On Sunday they will play the winner of Lakers and Thunder in San Antonio. With Popovich (the coach of the year 2012) and the big three (Tim, Tony and Manu) in their team, Spurs are chasing their 5th championship and with the kind of record they have this season, they have a great chance of winning.

  1. #5 I see one fundamental flaw in that plan. I thghout it was written somewhere that it’s the OLDER brother who drags the YOUNGER one around. Definite fail there! My epic fail? Believing you can jump, from the 10 high front porch, into the grass beyond the sidewalk. When you’re 6. And missing the grass by that number of inches. To cap it off, I didn’t knock myself out, and while standing in the ER, and asked by a nurse why I looked familiar, I proudly help up the finger I had smashed a few weeks earlier, when I tipped over in the little red wagon I was riding in and banged the finger between the steel wagon and the pavement. Happily chatting away, all the time with blood running down my forehead and my mother FREAKING OUT! Thank goodness there wasn’t the level of twitchiness with child abuse back then. My dad took photos of my sister and I every year when school started. There is not one in which one of us is unbruiised or un-bandaged!

  2. Wow, that’s a really clever way of thinking about it!

  3. It’s about time someone wrote about this.
